Promotion-chasing side in hunt for Leeds ace with 8 PL apps after concerning update – report
Bournemouth have entered the hunt to sign Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts, according to the Daily Mail.
The Championship side are said to be monitoring the Welsh international, with concerns over the futures of David Brooks and Josh King this month.
Marcelo Bielsa cast doubt over the future of Roberts, claiming he was ‘unavailable’ after missing the 3-0 defeat against Spurs on Saturday.
Bournemouth will have joined a number of clubs interested in the 21-year-old, who appears to have fallen out of favour at Elland Road.
Football Insider reported in December that Derby were also interested, but that the Whites would only part ways with Roberts if they could bring in a replacement this month.
The Daily Mail also claim in this report that Ryan Giggs is also tracking the outcome of this development, with Wales keen to exploit his pace at the upcoming European Championships in the summer.
Leeds are yet to be linked with many strikers this month, and with Roberts’ opportunities limited to the under-23s, a loan move could make sense.
Roberts has only started two games since promotion to the Premier League, the games against Sheffield United and Manchester City.
The 21-year-old has come off the bench six times already this season and has certainly struggled to catch the eye since the step-up in competition.
In 239 minutes of action, Roberts has only averaged 0.3 shots and key passes per game according to WhoScored and adding that to his zero goal involvements, it doesn’t make for good reading.
Bielsa had to seek assurance over the question on Roberts after the Spurs clash, and El Loco claiming he is ‘unavailable’ could be the hint of our first departure this month.
