‘Premier League quality’ – Morrison raves about ‘really good’ Leeds player on Sky Sports

Clinton Morrison has been raving about Jean-Kevin Augustin after Leeds United wrapped up a deal to sign the striker on loan from RB Leipzig on Monday.

Augustin, 22, spent the first half of the season on loan at Monaco but after failing to impress there, that deal was terminated so that he could head to West Yorkshire for the remainder of the campaign.

He was not included in the matchday squad for Leeds’ clash against Millwall on Tuesday night but ahead of that game, ex-Crystal Palace striker Morrison bigged up the latest arrival at Elland Road.

“Leeds have signed the striker Augustin and he’s a really good striker,” said Morrison on Sky Sports News on Tuesday night [07:42pm].

“I think he’s Premier League quality.

“He’s not ready tonight [against Millwall] but I think he’ll help them because there’s too much pressure on Patrick Bamford and obviously Eddie Nketiah went back to Arsenal.

“They needed another striker and they will miss Kalvin Phillips [who is suspended for the next two matches] because he has been key for them.”

Morrison is not the only person to say that Augustin is Premier League quality as talkSPORT pundit Andy Brassell also made that same claim on Monday.

Augustin was linked with Premier League clubs last year and he is clearly a good player to have been signed on Monaco, albeit to struggle there, in the summer.

It is great that Leeds also have the opportunity to sign Augustin permanently at the end of his loan spell because if they win promotion to the Premier League, a good young striker like him could make a massive difference.

Leeds have done brilliantly to sign Augustin and the sooner he can get into the side and start scoring goals, the better.

It just remains to be seen how long Marcelo Bielsa will take before dropping Bamford.

In other Leeds United news, Angus Kinnear has hit out at a Premier League club who tried to hijack their move for Augustin.
