Premier League official post about Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville causes uproar on X
The Premier League have caused uproar on X after a post from the official account involving Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville sparked outrage.
After Liverpool and Manchester City battled to a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday, the league posted a stat about Virgil Van Dijk’s record at the stadium in the division being phenomenal.
The Dutch defender has lost just once at Anfield as a Liverpool player, against Leeds when Crysencio Summerville scored an 89th-minute winning goal in 2022.
But with the way the post was worded, it led to fans of all different clubs in England mocking the account as despite the great record he isn’t undefeated – which was the whole bizarre point of the tweet.
Some replies included, “if my grandma had wheels she’d be a bike”, “so he isn’t unbeaten is he?” and “if it wasn’t for an Anelka penalty in the 04/05 season Chelsea would have been invincible. That’s what if does.”
Leeds United always ruining the party
Leeds have always been good at the biggest stadiums, with the fan support of the travelling crowd and the quality and fearlessness of the players in white carrying through.
In recent years that’s obviously been lessened such is the gap between the top Premier League teams and the rest, but even this season at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup Leeds held their own despite being a division below Chelsea.
That win at Anfield was unfortunately not enough to help the Whites stay in the Premier League last season, but it did kickstart Crysencio Summerville’s career.
Since then he has become a regular in the squad, and even more recently he has arguably become Daniel Farke’s most important player.
This season his form has been nothing short of tremendous and should the Whites find themselves back in the Premier League next season, it will largely be down to him. Hopefully then we can ruin Van Dijk’s party once again.
