‘Pray for JKA, Taking it a lot more seriously’: Some Leeds fans react to Phil Hay Twitter update
Athletic journalist Phil Hay posted a fascinating update on the measures Leeds are taking to keep fit during the Coronavirus outbreak, and plenty of fans have reacted on Twitter.
In the interview with head of medicine and performance Rob Price, Hay came away with the take that Leeds would be the fittest club in the Championship when the season returns.
The Leeds fans picked up on two parts of the article.
The first was that Leeds were planning for disruption as early as January – way before the government seemed to be taking it seriously.
One fan said, “It is amazing all these stories of football clubs planning for the coronavirus outbreak since early in the year. Seems they all were taking it a lot more seriously than the government was.”
The second is that striker Jean-Kevin Augustin was getting one-to-one treatment at Thorp Arch in a bid to get him match fit when the season returned.
One fan said “Pray for JKA” and said he dreaded to think how many sessions he would be doing during the lockdown.
Augustin has struggled for match fitness since arriving at Leeds and sat out the last three games with a hamstring issue.
He has recovered from this but is now getting special rehab work at Thorp Arch concentrating on his sprint mechanics.
One fan said it was “to try and prevent more hamstring injuries. Spurs had to do the same with Gareth Bale way back as he used to be the same.”
