Former Leeds United man Lucas Radebe believes the Whites could finish as high as eighth in the Premier League this season.
Speaking on LUTV’s The Leeds United Show, Radebe set a high bar when quizzed on his predictions for the second half of the season, “[With] the attitude of those players and the manager, obviously, they want to finish possibly top five, which is going to be hard.
“We’ve seen that in the Premier League if you don’t defend better you can be far off.
“But realistically, I think we can finish in the top 10, possibly in the top eight if we really become consistent in getting results and in making sure that we don’t concede as much, especially at home, which I think will benefit us a lot.”
After 17 games played, Leeds find themselves in 12th on 23 points – a position we are sure they would have taken if they were offered the chance back in the summer.
With the table remaining so congested and compact, the Whites are only three points off Aston Villa in eighth but have played two extra games.
January and February could define Leeds’ finish
Leeds’ have a very interesting fixture list as they prepare for the second half of the Premier League campaign in 2021.
Over the course of their next seven league games – which takes them up to the beginning of February, Leeds play four teams who are within six points either side of them in the table.
That run includes games against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, who both sit either side of the Whites in the Premier League table as things stand.
Having only put together back-to-back Premier League wins on two occasions this season, this would be the ideal moment for the Whites to find some form of consistency that could help them build towards a finish like Radebe is predicting.
