David Prutton predicts Portsmouth v Leeds score after being told crazy statistic
David Prutton has issued his prediction for Leeds United’s trip to Portsmouth on Sunday.
Daniel Farke’s men are facing Pompey in a televised fixture on Sunday (9 March), while promotion rivals Sheffield United, Burnley and Sunderland are all in action on Saturday.
Therefore, Leeds will already know exactly what is at stake ahead of kick-off, and could even extend their lead at the top of the Championship table to six points if both Sheffield United and Burnley slip up on Saturday.
With just 11 games left to play, the race for promotion is really heating up, but the Whites are on course to book their spot in next season’s Premier League.

Prutton makes four-goal prediction for Portsmouth vs Leeds
In recent weeks, the Whites have asserted their position as league leaders with consecutive victories over fellow top-four sides Sunderland and Sheffield United followed by a 1-1 draw with play-off contenders West Brom.
But Portsmouth will present a different challenge to Leeds on Sunday, as John Mousinho’s side are still battling to retain their Championship status.
Championship table | Team | Points |
1 | Leeds | 76 |
2 | Sheffield Utd | 73 |
3 | Burnley | 71 |
4 | Sunderland | 65 |
Speaking on the latest episode of Sky Sports’ Essential EFL Championship predictions podcast, host Simeon Gholam revealed a stunning statistic: “Leeds have failed to win any of their last six away games against Portsmouth, they haven’t beaten them there since 1986.”
Gholam also acknowledged that Sunday’s fixture is a must-win for Leeds, who will be intrigued to see how their promotion rivals fare on Saturday.
After hearing about Leeds’ poor record at Fratton Park, Prutton predicted the score: “I’m going to go 2-2.
“Rambunctious Sunday lunchtime draw.”

Leeds should have enough quality to beat Portsmouth
Prutton’s prediction of an entertaining draw at Fratton Park between Portsmouth and Leeds is an understandable one, given the Whites’ poor record against Pompey in Hampshire.
Furthermore, John Mousinho’s side currently hold an eight-point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone but that could be reduced if the likes of Luton Town emerge victorious on Saturday afternoon.
Last time Pompey faced Leeds, it was a somewhat chaotic affair on the opening day of the Championship campaign which finished 3-3 at Elland Road.
Callum Lang scored a brace that day, while the Whites salvaged a draw in the 95th minute thanks to Brenden Aaronson, who subsequently missed a last-gasp opportunity to clinch victory.
This time around though, the Championship leaders should have enough quality to fend off Portsmouth, not least because Pompey will have to cope without the services of seven players who are currently injured including the aforementioned star man Lang.
