Plymouth Argyle v Leeds United result predicted by supercomputer

Leeds United may have already gained promotion to the Premier League, but they go into the final game of the season with something still to play for.

Leeds sit at the top of the Championship table but are level on points with Burnley, meaning whoever comes out on top on Saturday (3 May) will be crowned champions of the second tier.

Daniel Farke’s men make the trip to Plymouth Argyle for their last game of the season, a side that sits 23rd in the table.

Leeds to secure Championship title

In a game between first and 23rd, the outcome for Leeds and Plymouth seems fairly obvious.

Argyle are not mathematically relegated to League One yet, although their chances are slim with a fair amount of goals needing to go their way to stay up on goal difference.

Leeds could relegate Plymouth.

With that in mind, although Plymouth may be a bit more fired up than usual coming into the tie, it’s not too surprising that the Opta supercomputer has predicted that the Whites will come out on top.

Leeds are 60.9 per cent likely to come out on top, which would secure the Championship title.

One point could be enough to secure Farke’s men the title, although that would then require Burnley not to win either.

A draw is the second most likely outcome with a 20.4 per cent chance, while Plymouth have just an 18.7 per cent chance of saving themselves from going down.

Farke can secure Leeds future with final win

Although things should be positive at Elland Road with Leeds having secured their promotion to the top, questions over the future of Farke as manager has left a cloud hanging over West Yorkshire.

There are some anxieties that the manager does not have what it takes to reach the levels required to battle it out in the top flight and instead, a more experienced boss would be preferable to go forward.

These possibilities have been branded as harsh by many, though, and if the German could see his side promoted as champions, surely that has to be enough to silence his doubters and earn him the opportunity to take the squad forward.

It is going to be a big summer for Leeds, but Farke has built the squad that have gained promotion and he is deserving of the chance to progress with that squad even further.
