Report: Leeds target unhappy – talks to manager about summer move after eight-figure bid tabled
Amid an eight-figure bid from Leeds United, Ryan Kent has told Steven Gerrard that he wants to stay and help Rangers in their quest to stop Celtic from winning ten titles in a row.
That’s the news that’s come from The Scottish Sun, in direct contradiction to a report from 90min.com on Monday.
The Scottish Sun made reference to that report saying that Kent was left “furious” after that report surfaced.
Kent fought for his move to Rangers and wants to repay that loyalty by staying and playing for Gerrard.
Leeds have already seen a £10m bid rejected and are considering going back with an improved £14m offer.
Whose sources are better?
Leeds fans will want to believe the 90min.com report but it left Kent in a bad position.
If a move to Leeds doesn’t go through then that jeopardises his relationship with the home fans.
Kent will know the situation between Leeds and Rangers as well as anyone and he doesn’t need to agitate for a move.
If Leeds hit the figure that Rangers want then the move is likely to happen. And declaring loyalty for your club is very different to refusing a move when your club informs you you’re going to be sold.
It’s right that Kent would want to show loyalty to a club that fought to sign him and one he may well have to play with for the next season.
Even if the Scottish Sun version is correct, we don’t think it puts the brakes on a Leeds move. This one is all about the money and Rangers have already said there is a price they’d accept.
