Leeds United duo Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have endured injury hell since securing their major transfers last summer.

Marcelo Bielsa added two international players to his squad in the hope of new defensive solidarity in the Premier League.

Neither have been able to stay fit at Elland Road, with both currently sidelined yet again with their problems.

Writing for the Athletic in a Q&A, Hay was questioned on how the injured duo passed medicals at Elland Road.

"Players always go through medicals," he wrote.

"Sometimes it's more of a risk than others and Llorente had suffered from injuries in Spain but Leeds wouldn't have signed him if they thought it was a significant problem.

"With Koch, there was nothing to suggest he had any existing issues when he signed. A lot of this is down to bad luck. Clubs do a lot of due diligence when it comes to a player's fitness - as we saw with Cuisance."

Problem.

So, Llorente has always struggled with injuries and that trend has continued at Elland Road since he arrived.

On his day, the Spanish international is easily the best defender at the club, but it is just unfortunate that the money spent is slowly starting to look slightly a waste.

As for Koch, it is all put down to bad luck.

The German was playing through serious pain once he first joined, but then he finally completed surgery and hasn't been the same since.

Numerous problems have happened, and hopefully, he can string some performances together sooner rather than later.

If not, this looks like another area that we may need to look at addressing in upcoming transfer windows - we need reliability.
