Phil Hay states when Leeds should hear Casilla outcome after FA hearing concludes

The FA are really dragging out the Kiko Casilla case.

The hearing – which was concluded last week – came from an alleged incident in the Championship game against Charlton last September.

Jonathan Leko alleges something was said by Casilla with racist overtones and he’s got a witness in striker Macauley Bonne.

That’s the reason most pundits have been predicting a Casilla ban, which was expected last Thursday. And then on Friday.

However, the FA is yet to deliver its outcome and it makes the verdict less certain in our minds.

So when are Leeds and Casilla going to find out the verdict?

Writing in a Q&A on the Athletic website on Sunday, Phil Hay thinks it will come early this week.

“No comment from Leeds or the FA on this,” said Hay, “but the hearing is finished.

“The bulk of the evidence was presented on Wednesday and legal discussions continued on Thursday.

“Most of us were expecting a verdict before the end of the week and something should materialise in the early part of next week.”

Leeds play Middlesbrough on Wednesday night and the verdict could have an impact on the team Marcelo Bielsa can select.

However, there is a window for appeal and Casilla has vigorously denied all charges.

It’s such a serious charge that he may want to appeal if just to maintain his innocence but Leeds may want to accept the judgement and move on.

Either way we should find out either today or tomorrow. We really can’t see the outcome being delivered on matchday or it dragging on to Thursday or beyond. Although, with the FA you never know…
