Phil Hay shares what he noticed in immediate aftermath of Casilla incident after watching clip

The FA’s written reasons for hitting Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla with an eight-match ban for racism are still being discussed and argued on Twitter.

On Tuesday, the FA released their findings for public viewing on their official website but there are some Leeds fans who are still trying to pick apart the evidence that was used against their 33-year-old goalkeeper.

Casilla was accused of racially abusing West Brom attacker Jonathan Leko while he was on loan at Charlton earlier this season.

The incident happened when Leeds were defending a corner and the FA’s report says that their footage shows “physical exchanges” between Leko and Casilla.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay used the footage shown on WyScout to see what he could notice about the incident on there.

Hay says he saw Macauley Bonne, who was used as a witness in the FA’s case against Casilla, making several gestures towards Casilla and that Leko spoke to the referee soon after the incident.

Footage has emerged on Twitter of Bonne reacting to Casilla after the Spanish goalkeeper punches clear a Charlton corner.

Leko isn’t seen confronting Casilla but this backs up what Hay spotted on WyScout.

Video footage of the incident is not the be-all and end-all, the FA have taken into plenty of other factors before banning Casilla for eight games and hitting him with a £60,000 fine.

However it does show that there are two Charlton players who reacted to what they heard as they were in close proximity to the Leeds goalkeeper at the time.
