Phil Hay shares what has left Jesse Marsch shellshocked at Leeds United
Phil Hay has shared that Jesse Marsch was left shellshocked in the past week by his Leeds United side at Elland Road.
The journalist shared that the American could not believe the 3-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Thursday evening.
Pass-forward three days, though, and Marsch was sent wild by a last-gasp winner against Norwich for three huge points.
Writing for The Athletic on Monday morning (14 March), Hay shared the shock that hit the American in the past week.
“Marsch had left Elland Road four days earlier, shell-shocked by a horrible defeat in his first home game against Aston Villa, admitting he had no expectation of dropping off when he got home,” he wrote.
“If there was one thing he was guaranteed to do last night it was catch some sleep, partly through relief and partly through sheer emotional exhaustion.”

Shellshocked.
We think that everyone was a little shellshocked at just how bad the Whites were in that defeat against Aston Villa.
The win against Norwich was huge and it will hopefully kickstart a turned corner for Marsch at Elland Road as he gets his methods across.
Patrick Bamford returning and Joe Gelhardt getting that goal, along with the return to form of Raphinha are all reasons to be excited moving forward.
We can’t get carried away, though, there are going to be much tougher tests than them between now and the end of the season.
Marsch needs time despite not having much of it to get his methods across 100%, but that first win was always going to be critical.
Now he has it, there will be nothing that can leave him shellshocked, and hopefully, we can build on that with a positive result at Wolves on Friday.
