Phil Hay shares what Daniel Farke said on Leeds United plan to sign new left-back
Phil Hay has shared what Daniel Farke said in the pre-match press conference about Leeds United signing a new left-back on deadline day.
The German jokingly said that he would sign Roberto Carlos if available but he also confirmed that they will stay alert in the window.
He also said he’s got Junior Firpo and Sam Byram who can play there for the Whites this season.
Hay shared on Twitter, “Farke on left-back: ‘We will stay awake until the final seconds of the window. If I could sign Roberto Carlos in his prime, I would be open to this. But we’ve got Junior Firpo and Sam Byram. I hope both will be back at the end of the international break’.”
Good news?
Rather than ruling out a move for a new left-back, Farke’s kept the door open for the Whites to bring in someone before the deadline.
It’s clear to Leeds fans that Firpo is not good enough and even Byram has struggled a bit this season.
If the club are serious about not just finishing in the top two but actually qualifying for the play-offs, these cannot be the top two left-back options.

A loan move could be on the cards and there will be a lot of second or third choice left-backs in some of the big leagues looking for a temporary deal.
Leeds will be active certainly and Farke perhaps has a few targets in mind for the Whites to sign before the deadline.
It remains to be seen who they manage to get in and if there are any sales, money could be freed up to sign a new left-back.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has spoken about Luis Sinisterra potentially leaving Elland Road on transfer deadline day.
