Phil Hay shares Tyler Adams update ahead of Leeds United v Manchester United

Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams will not feature in the first pre-season clash of the summer against Manchester United on Wednesday 12 July, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist has shared that the American international is yet to regain full fitness after his hamstring injury saw him miss the end of last season.

Hay also admitted that Adams could yet leave the club this summer, with uncertainty surrounding his future at Elland Road after relegation.

Writing for The Athletic, Hay shared what to expect from the American international in the future, and in the immediate aftermath of the first pre-season showdown.

“Tyler Adams might depart, too, and while Leeds are fighting to retain him, he is yet to regain full fitness after hamstring surgery in March,” he wrote.

“He will not feature against Manchester United tomorrow and it is uncertain if Leeds will reach the end of the transfer window with the USA captain on their books.”

Over to you.

Daniel Farke will already have held talks with the 49ers Enterprises over the state of the squad and how it may change, with Adams a big part of that.

The new owners want to keep their American sweetheart in the side and will do all they can to persuade him to stick around for a shot at promotion to the Premier League.

Right now though, it feels unrealistic to imagine a side in the Championship with Adams in it, although with Marc Roca moving on, Farke will be desperate for that.

The German is smart enough to know that some big names will still depart the club between now and September, so there are many twists and turns to come.

Tomorrow looks too soon for Adams to be involved, so any transfer away won’t be immediate as he would likely fail a medical, so there is time to make a decision for both parties.
