Phil Hay shares Patrick Bamford update from Elland Road as Leeds United players spotted
Five Leeds United players sat out of an open training session at Elland Road ahead of Wednesday’s (21 December) friendly against Monaco, according to Phil Hay.
Patrick Bamford was the headline name not on the training field alongside number one goalkeeper Illan Meslier and the in-form Crysencio Summerville.
Wingers Jack Harrison and Luis Sinisterra also sat on the sidelines for the session at Elland Road while Beren Cross of Leeds Live also noted the absence of Archie Gray and Liam Cooper
Bamford has only played 10 Premier League games this season, most of which saw him start on the bench with injuries plaguing him yet again.
“Quite a few not involved this evening,” Hay said via his personal Twitter account. “Adams is here but not training. Harrison, Sinisterra, Meslier, Summerville, Bamford among the others sitting it out.
Marsch is doing the right thing in keeping these players away from any form of physical contact training just in case they do aggravate an injury because his squad is already very thin.
Sinisterra, in particular, is just getting back from an injury that kept him out of a lot of matches before the World Cup so the last thing the boss wants is his big-money summer signing back on the treatment table.
They do all need some game time before Manchester City on the 28 December but if they are not up to it against Monaco then there is no point in risking them at all.
Adams, especially, should be fit and raring to go after being such a star at the World Cup with the United States of America but Bamford has been injury prone for the past 18 months.
Marsch can’t afford to lose him yet again to injury just when he is starting to get him back towards some kind of form in front of goal.
