Phil Hay shares major Leeds United transfer update to sign Georginio Rutter
Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter has reportedly not yet travelled to complete his Leeds United medical and seal a record transfer.
According to the Athletic’s Phil Hay, the 20-year-old wants the move and things are headed in the right direction to finalise the transfer.
The two clubs still remain in talks but there is an expectation of this one getting over the line sooner rather than later.
Via Twitter, Hay wrote, “Talks still ongoing for Georginio Rutter. He hasn’t travelled yet but he wants the move and it’s moving in the right direction.”
Rutter isn’t a household name that fans would’ve wanted at the start of the window but if the club are willing to smash their transfer record for him, there must be something about him.
While his goal-scoring record is not the best, his in-game movement is regarded as one of the best in the Bundesliga and at 20, that’s some feat.
His arrival will give this Leeds attack a different dimension and we cannot wait for him to lead the line on a consistent basis for the rest of the season.
He will also bring others into the game and we can expect to see Brenden Aaronson and even Crysencio Summerville get into more central positions with Rutter drifting out wide.
Hopefully, the Frenchman’s signing is what Leeds need to get further away from the relegation zone as going down is always going to be a massive worry for them.
Players from foreign leagues tend to take time to adapt so it will be harsh on expecting him to deliver from day one and he should be given a few games to get used to the pace and physicality of the Premier League.
