Phil Hay shares Leeds United transfer verdict on Joel Piroe and Nadiem Amiri
Leeds United are getting close to Swansea striker Joel Piroe with confidence also emerging from Germany over a deal for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Nadiem Amiri, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist shared his verdict on the potential double transfer with very significant additions set to be finalised at Elland Road soon, it seems.
Daniel Farke also delivered the boost that Luis Sinisterra and Wilfried Gnonto are both back in the squad for the Championship clash with Ipswich on Saturday 26 August.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “Leeds getting close on Joel Piroe.
“Would be a very significant addition, in a position where they genuinely need him. Confidence in Germany too that the club can get Nadiem Amiri from Bayer Leverkusen. Marseille interest in him appears to have faded.”

Wow.
After a quiet couple of weeks at Elland Road, it looks as though things are about to explode.
Piroe and Amiri would be two brilliant signings if they can click together with the German international likely to fill that hole behind the striker, two roles that have been seriously lacking.
Farke has consistently promised in his press conferences that things will get better as the transfer window goes on, even when it looked impossible to do so.
Now, we can see where he got that optimism from, and barring any last-minute hijacks, which has happened already this summer, we can celebrate.
The job certainly wouldn’t be done there in the market though, with a new left-back and holding midfielder most likely needed too to get this squad up to scratch.
Hopefully, these can be finalised and announced as soon as possible.
