Phil Hay shares if Daniel Farke will still be Leeds United manager next season if promotion bid fails
Daniel Farke is expected to be the Leeds United manager next season even if the Yorkshire club doesn’t win promotion, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
The former Norwich City boss joined the Whites at the start of the season on a four-year deal. Farke is famous for being a Championship guru, leading the Canaries to Premier League promotion twice while earning 191 points.
Hay has been quick to play down a departure of Farke if Leeds are unable to attain promotion this season, answering with a simple one-line reply.

“Farke is on a long contract so there will definitely be a second season with him,” Hay said via The Square Ball podcast on Friday (15 December).
No need to worry
Leeds and Farke have been extremely lucky with the number of injuries this season, but the ageing nature of his squad is no secret. From 32-year-old Liam Cooper to the injury-prone Patrick Bamford, there will be a reshuffle.
While Farke’s stay at Elland Road is highly likely, the Whites will need a brand new set of players next season, whether they gain promotion to the Premier League or not.
It may be a more sensible idea to go full throttle next season, with league leaders Leicester and Ipswich showing no signs of letting up. Without those powerhouses and one other through the play-offs, it could be a walk in the park for Leeds next season.

However, the play-offs are a very real possibility if Leeds can continue their fine form and consistency, with Southampton, West Brom, Sunderland and Hull City all breathing down their neck.
The three years left on Farke’s contract should help fans breathe a sigh of relief. Some fan-favourites may not be at Elland Road next season but the manager will likely stay the same. If Leeds cannot escape the Championship’s grip this season, there is no one better to help them next season.
