Phil Hay shares Daniel Farke update at Leeds United ahead of January

Phil Hay has shared that Daniel Farke is not asking for vast amounts of change at Leeds United in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Athletic journalist has insisted that the German likes his squad as a whole at Elland Road, suggesting that there may be a couple of new faces potentially.

Farke has been very strict with his team selections recently, sticking with the same starting side frequently when others are calling for rotation in the brutal Championship.

Writing for The Athletic on Monday 18 December, Hay shared the latest from Elland Road ahead of the fast-approaching January window.

“Farke says he likes the group as a whole, so much so that he is not asking for vast amounts of change to it when the transfer window opens at New Year,” he wrote.

“But it is clear where his greatest trust lies and this spell of the campaign is where subtle rotation could pay off.”

Interesting.

Of course, a vast amount of change isn’t needed in this squad, but a couple of new faces could go very far.

Leeds are still trying to navigate without a real tried and tested left-back, with the number 10 role also coming under heavy scrutiny at different parts of the season.

Paraag Marathe and the 49ers Enterprises will be working closely with Farke and Nick Hammond, who have likely already put forward some names who could transform this squad.

There are some loan spots available, so even if there wasn’t much cash available, there is still room to bring in some players who could have a big impact on a promotion push.

Despite the big gap to the top two, nothing is ever guaranteed in the Championship, and if Leeds beat Ipswich, who then play Leicester after, that gap could be more than cut in half in a week.

This is one to watch next month, but it looks as though the door has not been shut to some new blood arriving to bolster the squad in numerous areas.

Bring it on.
