Phil Hay: Sam Allardyce mooted to change Leeds United system v Tottenham Hotspur after West Ham United loss
Phil Hay has relayed Sam Allardyce’s comments from the press conference after Leeds United lost 3-1 to West Ham on Sunday, 21 May.
Due to injuries to Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo, the Whites manager told the Athletic journalist that a change of system could be on the cards.
Club record signing Georginio Rutter is yet to feature for Big Sam and was an unused substitute in the loss to Hammers.
Hay wrote on Twitter, “Allardyce naturally worried about the loss of Rodrigo/Bamford to injury. Says he might have to totally change the system next weekend. Finishes his press conference by crossing his fingers, which says as much as anything.”
No Rutter?
The Frenchman was signed for big money when Leeds needed a striker the most but has barely featured for them.

It seems like whatever he’s doing in training did not impress Javi Gracia and is doing nothing for Allardyce either.
With Bamford and Rodrigo expected to miss out, it remains to be seen what Allardyce eventually decides to do.
He could go down the Willy Gnonto route and ask him to lead the line but the chances of Rutter starting are less.
He’s not even featured under him and it’s wishful thinking to take a gamble on him for one of the biggest matches in their recent history.
Only a miracle will keep the Whites in the top flight and if it happened last season, it could happen this time around as well.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
