Phil Hay rules out dreaded Andrea Radrizzani vote of confidence for Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa

Andrea Radrizzani is standing by Marcelo Bielsa amid an underwhelming start to the Premier League season for Leeds United.

Leeds won just their second league game of the campaign on Sunday as they beat Norwich 2-1 at Carrow Road and currently sit 17th in the table.

Speaking at the Lisbon Web Summit, as quoted by The Athletic, Radrizzani has spoken out about his support for Bielsa, saying the Argentinean boss has his “unconditional” backing.

Football fans know that when there comes a vote of confidence for a manager, it usually follows in his sacking but in this case, The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has ruled out Radrizzani doing the dreaded deed.

When asked by a fan of the Leeds owner’s words were a vote of confidence, Hay simply replied to say: “Nah”.

Going nowhere

Any talk of Bielsa leaving Leeds United, by anything other than his own accord, is futile.

No one is really suggesting the Argentine is sacked.

Sure, there may be some hotheaded Leeds fans on Twitter who are after a bit of interaction by tweeting “#BielsaOut” after a defeat or two but there’s no one out there who seriously wants this man to go.

Yes, we waited a long time to win promotion back to the Premier League but if we go down this season, we will not be calling for Bielsa’s head.

We’re mainly in this position because of him.

Of course, Radrizzani and Victor Orta deserve a lot of credit for the work they’ve done at Elland Road and for hiring Bielsa in the first place. But the former Marseille manager is owed a statue at Elland Road – not speculation about his future.

Radrizzani is just showcasing his support for Bielsa and we’re all for that.

He’s a vocal owner who deals in truths.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been told to sign this £40million-rated midfielder.
