Phil Hay predicts Stuart Webber and Leeds United speculation after Victor Orta exit from director of football job

Phil Hay has predicted that Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber will be linked to replace Victor Orta at Leeds United.

Orta was removed from his director of football role earlier this month, leaving alongside manager Javi Gracia.

Experienced manager Sam Allardyce has since been brought in to replace Gracia, with Leeds yet to replace Orta.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see how that starts to develop and what happens on that front,” Hay said on The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show (25m51s). “I think it’s inevitable there’ll be links to Stuart Webber down at Norwich, who’s been there for a long time.

“I know it’s been up and down with Norwich, they’ve obviously yo-yoed a fair amount. But I get the impression he’s done some very good work there over the period he’s been involved.

“A massive Leeds fans as well, so it happens. His name will probably come around.”

Busy summer ahead

It’s going to be a very busy summer for Leeds both on and off the pitch, with many incomings and outgoings expected at Elland Road over the coming months.

That will be the scenario regardless of what happens this season, in that change will take place either if the Whites stay in the Premier League or drop down to the Championship.

Right now, however, talks regarding such movements will have been put on hold, with the only focus on new boss Allardyce getting a tune out of a struggling Leeds squad.

He will be working hard every day on the training ground in a bid to pick up some much-needed points when matchday comes around.

Unfortunately for the new man in the dugout, he was handed a near-impossible first task with a clash against Manchester City, with that fixture now followed by equally difficult challenges.

In other Leeds United news, one Newcastle player appears to have proven his fitness battle ahead of facing the Whites on Saturday (13 May).
