Phil Hay: No Leeds deal for Dan James is on the cards

Leeds United moving for Manchester United winger Daniel James is not on the cards as things stand at Elland Road.

Phil Hay has responded to reports that the Welsh winger has been offered to the Whites ahead of the Tuesday deadline.

The Athletic journalist did admit that it was one of those moves that you can “never say never” to given the history between the two.

Writing in a Q&A for the Athletic, Hay insisted that no negotiations have started over a potential move ahead of the deadline.

“I’ve been saying all window that he’s someone Bielsa still likes so I’ll play the never say never card,” he wrote.

“Equally, nothing yet to say it’s on the cards.”

Quiet one?

Victor Orta will have had a quiet end to this window should nothing happen, with no senior deals in almost a month.

The academy has seen a bigger transformation during this window, with Leo Hjelde potentially the final name through the door.

Looking at the squad, the depth clearly isn’t good enough and that was made very clear against Burnley yesterday.

Helder Costa was left on the bench despite spending the majority of the second half pushing for an equaliser.

It is time to change our stance, this move is needed.
