Phil Hay claims ‘very, very talented’ Leeds youngster who scores for fun is one to watch

There are a number of names that are closing in on the first-team from the Leeds United academy this season.

Many have already made their debuts this season with Robbie Gotts, Oliver Casey and Pascal Struijk looking to follow in the footsteps of James Milner.

It’s not just in under-23’s where players can make a name for themselves though, with Leeds priding themselves on success in most age groups in West Yorkshire.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has revealed that Leeds have a young player who is finding the back of the net with ease in their ranks, definitely one to look out for.

“I won’t name him because it wouldn’t be fair but there’s a very, very talented kid in one of the much younger groups. Scores goals for fun,” he wrote in a Q&A.

Should that sort of form that Hay mentions continue in the years to come, this mystery youngster could be set for a big future at Elland Road.

Looking at strikers available in the academy (if the mystery player is in the final third), and Leeds currently have Ryan Edmondson and Bobby Kamwa in the under-23s and it is hard to suggest that either of those are close to the first-team.

The Birmingham Mail recently revealed that Leeds have had a strong interest in Blues forward Adan George, although that could have gone away with the youngster being offered two-year deal at St Andrews.

So, Leeds are still after strikers for their academy to bring into the first-team, and there isn’t one name that stands out massively who could come through in the next few years – maybe lookout for this one.
