Phil Hay: Medical scheduled – popular Leeds player set for late loan exit
Leeds United youngster Robbie Gotts is set for a medical today as he homes in on a loan move to League One side Lincoln.
That’s the update from Athletic journalist Phil Hay on Wednesday.
He said the move is “just about sorted. Medical and formalities today.”
Meanwhile, Barry Douglas could also leave before the domestic deadline on Friday, with both Watford and Blackburn “keen”.
Good luck to Gotts
Gotts is a popular player at Leeds, with fans and with staff.
Marcelo Bielsa apologised to him for his lack of game-time ahead of him making his debut for Leeds in the FA Cup game against Arsenal.
His lack of game-time isn’t down to a lack of quality. Gotts is just in the unfortunate position of being behind players who are mainstays for Bielsa.
We’ve watched him a lot in the under-23s and predicted that he would make the breakthrough to the senior squad.
He put in a decent performance against Arsenal and we’ll be eagerly watching his time at Lincoln where he should get regular game time.
Barry Douglas is a different case. He hasn’t delivered at Leeds as he was expected to and despite seeming happy at the club he’s not even made the matchday squads in the Premier League.
A move for him would seem to suit everyone and whether it’s a loan or a permanent deal, we’d imagine that’s the last Leeds fans will see of him. He’s in the last year of his contract at Elland Road.
