Phil Hay: Marcelo Bielsa has not given Leeds green light for Noa Lang deal

Leeds United have been strongly linked with a move for Club Brugge winger Noa Lang all summer.

It intensified even further on Friday as Voetbal Belgie reported that the Whites had agreed personal terms with the attacker.

They have been shut down by Fabrizio Romano and Phil Hay this weekend, much to the disappointment of the Leeds fanbase.

Hay has shared a further update on Saturday morning, with Marcelo Bielsa one of the main reasons behind this deal not progressing.

Writing in an Athletic Q&A on their website, the reliable journalist shared why the proposed move never got off the ground.

“Unless something changes, nothing in it at this stage,” he wrote.

“Orta has monitored Lang but Bielsa hasn’t given it the green light.”

Really?

We will never question Bielsa and his methods, he is one of the only reasons why we are back in the Premier League after so long out.

But, surely he recognises that we are so light in the final third and out wide in this current squad, last week proved that.

The Whites can’t rely on Helder Costa as our main rotation option behind Jack Harrison and Raphinha, he simply isn’t good enough at this level.

Crysencio Summerville is surely next in line ahead of Ian Poveda, but do we really want to be relying on the under-23s?

Something has to change in the next week, or we could face going through this window with no major signings and that could be a big error.
