Phil Hay makes admission on Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson after what he’s seen recently

Phil Hay believes that Leeds United attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson needs to work on his game in the summer as he’s not had the best of seasons.

The American was the first signing of the Jesse Marsch era and everything was almost done just as the Whites assured their status in the Premier League.

However, he has found it hard to nail his spot down in the first team and has only managed to register one goal and two assists from his 22 league starts this season.

Speaking on the Phil Hay Show, the Athletic journalist said at, “Recently, I think there are times teams find it too easy to bully him. He is young still so maybe he’ll have to look at that and improve over the summer and years to come.”

Spot on

Adapting to life in the Premier League is not an easy thing and Aaronson will have realised that given how much time it’s taken him.

There are players like Tyler Adams and Willy Gnonto who have started strongly but that doesn’t mean the American will not come good in the future.

There’s also been a lot of chopping and changing in terms of formation and personnel which means he’s not had a defined role in the side.

Leeds United

He surely will like to impact games more than he has this season and we’re sure that next season we should see a much better player.

However, Leeds are in a relegation fight and he cannot wait until then to improve so he’s got to find ways to go to the next level right now.

There’s a good chance that if Javi Gracia moves to a two-man attack, Aaronson will be the one to make way and that’s not something he wants.
