Phil Hay: Leeds United scouts watch Martin Terrier, believe move would be ‘pricey’
Leeds United scouts have been watching Rennes forward Martin Terrier in recent months, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist has reported that those scouts believe that the French striker would be “very pricey” though, and the Whites looks to strengthen the final third.
It comes after L’Equipe reported that Terrier could cost at least £34million, despite Hay admitting that he only really exploded onto the scene properly in the 2021-22 season.

Speaking in the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show on Thursday [21 July], the reliable journalist shared what he had been told about a possible move.
“You’ll have seen them linked with Martin Terrier at Rennes as well,” he said.
“Interesting that one, because we were told a few weeks ago that they’d be analysing him, the Leeds scouting department had been analysing him but weren’t sure and saw him as pretty pricey.
“He had a very, very hot season for Rennes last season, but it was his first where he really exploded.”

Pricey.
Everyone knows that the top target is Club Brugges star Charles De Ketelaere.
Leeds are ready to pay £34.1million for the Belgian wonder, so the money would be available for Terrier should the Whites have to look elsewhere in the coming weeks.
Jesse Marsch has admitted this week over in Australia that De Ketelaere is looking unlikely, but the deal hasn’t been chalked off completely, so it looks as though we will need to wait for that saga to conclude before we move for anyone else.
Terrier did score 21 goals and add three assists in his 37 games in Ligue 1 last season, so he knows where the back of the net is if given the chance – you don’t just lose that.
Anything is possible it appears with this hunt for a new striker, and at this stage, anyone could arrive as the new number nine at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites now want to sign this striker with a rival set to kickstart a major £30million+ transfer battle
