Phil Hay: Leeds United could offer Alfred Schreuder contract until end of season
Leeds United could reportedly offer Alfred Schreuder a short-term contract until the end of the season and then take stock again in the summer.
According to the Athletic journalist Phil Hay on 12 February, the Dutchman was in talks with the Leeds hierarchy after the 2-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
The primary aim will be to avoid relegation before they can decide whether or not they want to make a change in the summer.

Hay wrote, “Schreuder’s arrival would give Leeds the opportunity to make an appointment until the end of this season, with the aim of avoiding relegation and taking stock in the summer.”
Makes sense as last resort
The chances of Leeds getting their desired manager in the summer are higher as most of them are currently in jobs and face complicated situations to leave.
Arne Slot has gone on record to rule out leaving Feyenoord in the middle of the season and that could be down to the fact that he wants to win the league there.
The Whites even made a firm approach for Andoni Iraola but the Rayo Vallecano bosses blocked any attempt to lure him away from Spain.

Marcelo Gallardo also wants to take over a club in the summer which means that Leeds may have to settle for a temporary appointment for now.
Schreuder may not be the name that excites the fanbase, but if he’s the only realistic option available, there’s little Leeds can do for now.
Hopefully, they find someone better, but in case they don’t, we can expect an announcement any time if talks progress as all parties want them to.
