Phil Hay: Leeds on verge of securing two Premier League loan deals

Leeds fans have been waiting patiently for some incomings and it looks like this week could see a flurry of activity, with the club set to land three of their four top targets.

First up is Brighton-centre-back Ben White who, according to Phil Hay, was scheduled to have his medical at Elland Road on Sunday ahead of a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old is a talented player who will fit right into Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds team – good with his feet and with brilliant forward passing numbers. He also offers versatility and has played at both full-back positions for Brighton. We can see him coming in and making a play for a regular starting slot in the side. We don’t expect Brighton to be happy if he’s on the bench all season.

And there was more good news for Leeds fans from one of the most reliable sources. Hay also said that Jack Harrison was due to re-sign for Leeds for another season on Monday, with Wolves’ Helder Costa arriving ‘if all goes well’ in the next 24-48 hours.

Leeds fans have been complaining about no business being done but if all three of these come off then Leeds will already have had a great window.

Leeds had another winger target this summer, Liverpool’s Ryan Kent, but that hasn’t progressed so far. However, the news that Jack Clarke could be set to rejoin on loan when his Tottenham move goes through means that wouldn’t be such a big loss.

The one name that Leeds fans will be sweating over is Costa. He had a brilliant season for Wolves when they won the Championship and he offers real attacking returns in this league.

For Wolves he was averaging just under a goal every three games and an assist every 90 minutes []. This was what Leeds were desperately missing last season with Harrison registering just under one in 10.

With 7.26 dribbles every 90 minutes compared to 5.76 for Harrison, Costa has the ability to drive at opponents and unlock defences, and he could be a real force in the Leeds side next season. Leeds fans should know by Tuesday whether he’s going to be in White next season.
