Phil Hay: Leeds money for new signings to come from shareholders, Aaronson deal likely to happen if Bielsa leaves
Leeds United will be handed money from shareholders to seal the big signing of RB Salzburg star Brenden Aaronson.
That’s according to Phil Hay, who also shares that is how the Whites got a deal over the line for Dan James over the summer.
Leeds pushed for a deal in January, but will now look to the summer for Aaronson, with Marcelo Bielsa potentially leaving having no implication on any move.

Writing in the comment section of his pieces on The Athletic, Hay shared how the Whites will finance big deals.
“There was £20m available for Aaronson if Salzburg had said yes to it,” he wrote. “Leeds were also willing to do loan deals for players like van de Beek.
“So there is cash available. Much of it is having to come directly from shareholders though. That’s how they paid for Dan James in the summer and that’s how they would have paid for Aaronson.
“Bielsa leaving is probably the least likely to affect it because Leeds want their style of play to continue in future, even after he goes.”

Shareholders.
Well then, it looks as though Leeds are being funded by numerous different entities as things stand at Elland Road.
The 49ers Enterprises have joined Andrea Radrizzani with the likes of Peter Lowy also pumping money into the club.
This is brilliant to see numerous faces all behind the same cause, coming together to try and get major signings such as Aaronson across the line.
An interesting development ahead of the summer will be if the 49ers Enterprise increases their 44% stake to become majority stakeholders.
That would put them in charge, and likely push a move for Aaronson even more for some American representation at Elland Road.
Either way, the money is there and staying in the Premier League will help the funds even more, and even if Bielsa leaves, it looks as though we’re in good hands moving forward.
