Phil Hay issues update on Leeds United transfer requirements in January

Leeds United are not expected to have vast requirements in the January transfer window after a fruitful summer, according to Phil Hay.

The Athletic journalist reported on Wednesday (11 October) that the overhaul was done in the summer with a number of ins and outs.

There was a new manager, owners and an interim sporting director as well in what was a chaotic window at Elland Road.

The report read, “As it stands, Leeds’ requirements in January are unlikely to be vast. The overhaul of their squad after relegation from the Premier League moved Farke to the point of having two credible options for each position, give or take a couple of exceptions.”

Might need a left-back

Sam Byram may not be the most reliable option at left-back and it’s hard to predict what will happen with Junior Firpo once he returns.

As things stand, he does seem on course for returning post the international break so Daniel Farke can gauge how good he is.

However, if they are to finish in the top two, they might require a higher calibre of player there so it remains to be seen if they do dip into the market.

Burnley’s Charlie Taylor was considered and the Clarets could do a loan deal if he wants out and that would benefit Leeds.

They seem sorted in attacking positions and may be even in midfield so unless there are any sudden exits, things should be fine for the Whites.

It also depends on where they are in the table as they might throw money on one player if they feel he guarantees them promotion.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that big European clubs have been keeping tabs on a Whites player for a while and are still willing to sign him.
