Phil Hay issues Leeds United defender Joe Rodon injury update after win v Huddersfield Town
Leeds United defender Joe Rodon caught his studs in the turf which led to him being withdrawn in the 4-1 win v Huddersfield Town, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist claims that he went down on the pitch and walked off when taken off as Liam Cooper replaced him.
Rodon has been a first-team regular under Daniel Farke since he joined from Tottenham Hotspur on loan this summer.
Via Twitter, Hay wrote, “Rodon looking a bit uncomfortable after shielding out a pass towards Burgzorg. Rodon seemed to catch his studs in the turf a bit. Is walking off. Cooper on.”
Innocuous?
It was not a devastating challenge or unbearable pain that he could not walk so the early signs suggest it’s not a serious one.
These kinds of knocks happen in games and even if there was slight discomfort, it made sense to take him off given the scoreline.
Leeds were in cruise control and set to win comfortably so it made no sense to make anyone play through the pain barrier.

It’s not as if he’s a youngster fighting for his place in the team as he’s a first-team regular who Daniel Farke will want for the upcoming games.
It remains to be seen what the German’s reading of the situation is and hopefully, he allays any fears that Leeds fans have about the defender.
Rodon has been an important player for the Whites and they need him fit in the coming weeks.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that big European clubs have been keeping tabs on a Whites player for a while and are still willing to sign him.
