Phil Hay: Huddersfield want the majority of Lewis O’Brien money straight up from Leeds

Huddersfield Town are demanding much of the money upfront for Leeds United to sign Lewis O’Brien this summer.

Phil Hay has shared that our local rivals want £8million, but the majority of it will need to be handed straight up during this window.

The Telegraph has reported that Leeds were closing in on a deal packed with add-ons, something that hasn’t progressed through the week.

Speaking on the Phil Hay Show on Friday, Hay shared that the Terriers are demanding much of the money upfront.

“That certainly ties in with the Lewis O’Brien deal,” he said.

“That’s been spoken about for a good few weeks now, and Huddersfield want around £8million, a lot of the money upfront.

“Leeds haven’t been prepared to pay that, and don’t think the valuation is right and that is what Bielsa is saying.

“Even if you think £8million is not a lot of money for a Premier League club if that isn’t your valuation, you probably aren’t going to do it.”

Get it done.

Leeds look as though they want to seal a deal packed with add-ons for O’Brien, with the initial £8million valuation not received well.

We are desperate for a midfielder, our options are low and that was massively on show during that huge Old Trafford defeat last weekend.

Kalvin Phillips was missing, and with Adam Forshaw not deemed fully ready for the Premier League, Robin Koch was forced into that role and exposed.

With less than two weeks in the window, it is hard to predict at this stage if a new signing will arrive, but it looks as though some compromise will need to be made between both clubs for it to happen.
