Phil Hay has delivered an injury update on Leeds United man Junior Firpo
Phil Hay has revealed on his Twitter account why Leeds United ace Junior Firpo missed the Whites’ pre-season defeat to Ajax.
The Athletic reporter revealed that the 24-year-old had suffered a “minor knock” and had been left out of the Ajax match as a “precaution”.
Firpo played 45 minutes on Saturday against Real Betis, and there was no suggestion that he was injured; however, it appears as if he has suffered a slight problem. Judging by Hay’s tweet, it doesn’t sound as if Firpo’s injury is serious, and hopefully, we see him flying up and down the left in no time.
No need to take the risk!
If Firpo is not 100%, then there really is no need to risk him in a pre-season friendly.
Given that Ezgjan Alioski has left the club, Firpo will probably be Leeds’ first-choice left-back, and if there is any chance of him suffering an injury, there is no point throwing him in.
The former Barcelona man was quite impressive on Saturday against Betis as he provided an assist for Patrick Bamford and was a constant outlet for the Whites [LeedsUnitedComps].

It is very early days for Firpo, but we like what we see so far, and it is good to hear that this is only a minor injury.
Leeds still have a pre-season friendly against Villarreal to come, so hopefully, we see Firpo in that game and then against Manchester United in the Whites’ first Premier League game of the season.
Judging by Hay’s tweet, Leeds fans shouldn’t be too concerned about Firpo, and we hope to see him on the pitch soon.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have no interest in an EFL star.
