Phil Hay: Crysencio Summerville set for larger role after Leeds United agent talks
Crysencio Summerville is set for a bigger role at Leeds United over the upcoming season after talks were held with his agent over the summer, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist shared that discussions took place before the Dutch sensation put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Elland Road.
It was made public that Summerville wanted to leave West Yorkshire on loan last season after few chances under Marcelo Bielsa, but Jesse Marsch saw things differently.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Phil Hay Show podcast, the journalist shared the talks that had taken place over the recent months regarding his future.
“It was discussed with his agent during the summer about what was going to happen with him,” he said.
“There has been, on Summerville’s part, an interest in going out on loan as he wants to play, he wants to get games. I think that was very much on his mind when they were discussing a new contract, would it be better if he was elsewhere, for the short term, so he plays, but Leeds didn’t want to let him go, they rate him highly.

“I think we’re going to see him more and more.”
Talks.
It was brilliant to see Summerville commit his long-term future to Leeds, and now it is time for both parties to kick on hand in hand, especially in the Premier League.
The winger has the perfect chance to make an impact this weekend against Crystal Palace, with Luis Sinisterra serving his one-match suspension at Selhurst Park.
He may not start the game, but when the game stretches, later on, he will have that opportunity to come on and make it count with no other winger currently ahead of him.
Dan James’ move to Fulham over the summer saw him step forward towards that first-team regular role, and the next will be cementing himself in the first team.
It will take time, but all of these developments have made sure that Summerville can see the clear space ahead of him that he has to take advantage of.
All eyes are on the winger.
