Phil Hay: Crysencio Summerville required Leeds United injury treatment on Friday evening

Phil Hay has shared that Leeds United talent Crysencio Summerville needed treatment numerous times against Manchester City under-23s on Friday.

The young Dutch speedster was clearly targeted by the away side in front of a record-breaking Elland Road crowd.

Summerville needed treatment on injuries on more than one occasion and will be waking up sorely this morning, no doubt.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday [22 April], Hay shared what he saw at Elland Road.

“Another heavy foul on Summerville, leading to a booking for Romeo Lavia,” he wrote.

“Summerville needing treatment again.”

Wow.

Watching along like many, we couldn’t believe that Manchester City under-23s ended this game with 11 players on the pitch.

Cieran Slicker should have been sent off, with the keeper only getting a yellow for wiping out Summerville after he had got behind the City backline.

Mor heavy fouls followed, and it became clearer that the officials got lost in the moment and couldn’t handle the pressure of a big crowd.

Leeds and Summerville will be holding their heads up high though, and they dominated 75% of the game against the Premier League 2 title winners.

With Jesse Marsch watching along, he will no doubt have been impressed by Summerville who never stopped being a problem all evening.

When the opposition can only foul you, you’re doing something right, although it won’t feel like that this morning.

The under-23s are coming to the end of their season now, and the likes of Summerville will be desperate for first-team minutes.
