'Phenomenal', '100%' - Many Leeds fans delighted by news about Phillips & White

England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that Leeds United duo Ben White and Kalvin Phillips are being monitored by the national side.

The Three Lions boss has been present at Elland Road this season, watching the 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the campaign.

England were meant to play their European Championship game against Croatia on Sunday but instead will have to wait until 2021.

Southgate has admitted that gives the Leeds duo a better chance of making the Championships next year.

“It could be a Ben White, who has been on loan at Leeds, or a Kalvin Phillips, that haven’t played Premier League football yet,” he told the Independent.

“Those sorts of players could come into the frame. We’re always open to what it looks like.”

Yes, both Phillips and White haven’t played in the Premier League yet. They now have the chance to get a year’s worth of top-flight experience.

Leeds are currently nine games away from promotion, and more importantly the Premier League.

Both have proven they can play against top-flight sides this season, dominating Arsenal in the FA Cup clash back in January.

There are no guarantees that White would be still at Elland Road next season, but Andrea Radrizzani has confirmed that he will be placing an offer to turn that into a permanent switch.

Many Leeds fans have reacted to Southgate’s recent quotes, and have claimed that both should be in the England squad next year.
