Peter Crouch sends Kalvin Phillips Twitter message

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips was voted England’s Player of the Year for 2021 this week.

The Yorkshire Pirlo only made his full international debut last year, but played a huge role in the run to the EURO 2020 final.

Declan Rice handed the award to Phillips at St George’s Park in the build-up to tonight’s friendly with Hungary, and it left him shocked.

Many believe that the award was well deserved and despite Phillips playing among many of the huge names, he stood out.

Peter Crouch was one of those and delivered a two-word message to the Leeds star on his personal Twitter account this afternoon.

“Well deserved,” he wrote.

Deserved.

What an impact Phillips has made.

Despite coming into the international fold with no Premier League experience, within a year he has won an award such as this one.

Not only that, but he has pushed captain of Liverpool Jordan Henderson onto the bench under Gareth Southgate, despite him reaching full fitness for most of the EUROs.

It is time to kick on now, though, and both Phillips and England having a great chance to win some major silverware in the years to come after finally returning to the limelight this summer.

Phillips can be integral to that alongside Rice, and it starts this evening in yet another World Cup qualifier with the Hungarians.

We expect the Yorkshire Pirlo to not only start, but put on yet another shining performance on the international stage.
