Pete Lowry and 49ers in attendance for Leeds United v Arsenal

Pete Lowry and representatives from the 49ers Enterprise were spotted at Leeds United ahead of their Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The 49ers still hold an option to complete a full takeover of the club in 2024 and it’s understood their interest has not waned, as suggested by the Athletic’s Phil Hay (Phil Hay Show podcast, 8 October).

It seems the franchise are keeping a keen eye on proceedings in Yorkshire with director Lowry and other members of the enterprise sighted (Adam Pope, personal Twitter account, 16 October) at Elland Road ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Yorkshire.

Could this be the first sign of the American coming under pressure at Leeds? The Whites are winless in five matches and have fallen down the Premier League standings in recent weeks. Considering the amount of money that was spent over the summer, it’s not outrageous to suggest more points should’ve been accumulated.

What is frustrating for Leeds’ fans is that there have been moments of encouragement over the course of the season and it’s clear the club do have some extremely talented players on their books.

However, the jury is still very much out on the American coach after an unconvincing start to the season. The 49ers will be acutely aware of the importance of remaining in the Premier League, and if Leeds’ poor form continues there is every chance of the American being relieved of his duties.

It’s been abundantly clear that he is rigid in the way he wants to approach games with Leeds very much an off-the-ball side that likes to press opposing teams. This game plan works to some extent, however, the lack of a plan b from the American is extremely worrying.

If Leeds don’t pick up a positive result against Mikel Arteta’s side this afternoon then it would not be a surprise to see more people calling for Marsh’s time at Elland Road to come to an end.

In other Leeds United news, Adam Forshaw has shared how Marsch tore into one player in front of everyone at traning.
