Permanent Ryan Giles transfer on cards as Leeds United want deal

Leeds United are interested in a move to sign Luton Town left-back Ryan Giles in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The broadcaster has reported on its live transfer blog [18 January, 15:55] that the Whites are one of numerous Championship clubs interested.

It is suggested that Luton are open to a permanent exit for Giles, or even a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer despite numerous starts in the Premier League this season.

It is no secret that Leeds and Daniel Farke are on the lookout for new full-backs, with Luke Ayling leaving on loan and Djed Spence returning to Tottenham.

With Junior Firpo and Sam Byram already suffering numerous injuries this season, the Whites are looking very light on options at Elland Road right now.

Permanent?

With numerous loan spots now open at Elland Road, it may seem out of the blue that money would be splashed but it may not be immediately.

It would be smart for a loan move to be signed off with a possible obligation to buy, with Giles likely wanting regular football given his time on the pitch so far.

A move to Elland Road would be massive, regardless of him currently being a Premier League footballer, but that could all change at the end of the season.

Leeds need a left-back, regardless of Byram and Firpo playing well in parts of the season, they are not reliable to play every single week right now.

Maybe an option on the right-hand side could be of more use than Giles right now, but going for the former Wolves man doesn’t mean he will be the only signing.

Let’s hope we are in for a busy two weeks at Elland Road.
