Permanent Joe Rodon transfer update emerges in January at Leeds United

Leeds United are looking at turning Joe Rodon’s loan move into a permanent one in the January transfer window, according to Graeme Bailey.

The HITC journalist has shared that he has “heard” noises from Leeds surrounding the Welshman, with his future well on the agenda at Elland Road.

It is suggested that there are other incomings and outgoings that will need sorting first, with Djed Spence already returning to Tottenham on January 4.

Speaking to the One Leeds Fan Channel, as shared on X, Bailey shared what he has heard about the Welshman turning his move into a permanent one.

“It’s one I’ve heard,” he said.

“I believe that’s on the agenda, I think it’s something they will look at. Do they need to do it in January? I think he’s done well, he’s impressed and Daniel Farke is happy with him, I think it’s on the agenda, I don’t think it’s one that is top of the agenda.

“Probably some incomings and outgoings they need to do first, but I think that is on the agenda and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if that gets done. I do know it’s one they are looking at.”

Statement.

This would be a massive statement by the 49ers and Leeds, at a time when most of the fan base is baffled.

It was confirmed on Thursday that Spence had returned to Spurs, but with no real reason as January started in a bit of a negative light at Elland Road.

Rodon, also on loan from Tottenham, is going nowhere of course, but to nail down his long-term future before his loan even ends would end any possible similarities with Ben White.

Given that Farke is happy with the Welsh enforcer, it gives the impression that he wasn’t exactly thrilled with what the right-back was delivering.

Leeds know that they need to make up some ground if they want to earn automatic promotion to the Premier League, so signings are needed in West Yorkshire.

It will be interesting to see if a busy January is ended with a bang and a permanent move for Rodon, but if the option is there for the summer, that may make a lot more sense.

This is one to watch.
