'Perfect' - Match of the Day pundit urges Leeds to sign duo with 398 PL appearances between them

Danny Murphy has suggested that Leeds United should move to sign Adam Lallana and Danny Rose this summer.

The Whites secured their return to the Premier League over the weekend after a 16-year absence, and will conclude their Championship season with a clash against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday.

But Murphy is of the opinion that Marcelo Bielsa could do with bolstering his ranks a little before his side make the step up to the big time.

In particular, the former Liverpool man believes that some added experience would be useful at Elland Road, and has picked out Anfield midfielder Lallana and Tottenham Hotspur full-back Rose as two candidates who could offer the Whites some much-needed knowhow at the highest level.

Between them, they have 398 career appearances in the top flight.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the Match of the Day pundit said: “Adam Lallana, out of contract at Liverpool, would be perfect.

“Great energy, good footballer, good attitude.

“Danny Rose is a Leeds boy. He’s been a top left-back for a long time.

“Maybe he’ll want to go home.”

Both Lallana and Rose look as if they will be on the move this summer, that much is for sure.

Football Insider recently reported that Brighton have leapfrogged Leicester City in the race to tie down out-of-contract Lallana, while Rose is understood to be available for a cheap sale after failing to see eye to eye with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho.

Personally, we would be in favour of both these deals going ahead, but a swoop for Rose in particular makes an awful lot of sense.

Leeds lack real depth at left-back, and as Murphy points out here, the 30-year-old is a former academy prospect who left the club way back in 2007.

What a story it would be if he made a return to Elland Road just in time to help us do battle in the Premier League, and what a boost it would be for Bielsa’s squad.
