We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell is the “perfect fit” for Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds have been linked with a move for Cantwell, with PA saying the two clubs are in talks.
Cantwell was dropped from the Norwich squad for the game on Sunday, with manager Daniel Farke criticising him afterwards for not being focussed.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “Todd Cantwell is a very good young player. I think there will be a lot of potential suitors for him.
“If Leeds can get that one over the line then I think it will be a great deal.
“He’s young, he’s still very impressionable, very coachable and that makes him the perfect fit for Bielsa.
“Playing under a manager like that could be the draw to Elland Road, it might just give Leeds the advantage over other teams.
“The way people speak about Bielsa… He can make players better and that must be a really attractive proposition for a young player like Cantwell.”
Leeds United have done a lot of business already this summer but are still preparing to bring two players in in the last week of the window.
Cantwell is one name that’s been mentioned but the one that seems closest to happening is Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich.
Leeds are reported to be in advanced talks for Cuisance with personal terms already agreed on a five-year deal.
