Paul Robinson slams Leeds United defender Junior Firpo after latest display

Leeds United lost 4-0 against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at Elland Road on Saturday and Paul Robinson was far from impressed with the performance of Junior Firpo.

The Whites created some good chances in the first half, but their poor defending allowed the visitors to take a healthy 3-0 lead at the break.

In the build-up to the second goal, Firpo made a lazy attempt to stop Dejan Kulusevski. Robinson labeled it as a “schoolboy defending”, saying it was “inexcusable”.

Robinson said, as quoted by BBC Sport Website: “It is the same old story for Leeds; they’re finding themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes and nothing is changing.

“They are the masters of their own downfall; Kulusevski picked the ball up in the corner, he was one on one with Junior Firpo. All the defender had to do was put in a simple tackle. It is terrible, schoolboy defending. Inexcusable.”

Robinson is absolutely spot on here.

It was a lame attempt made by the former Barcelona defender, and it allowed Spurs to take a 2-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes.

All he needed was to put in a strong tackle, but he made no contact at all and allowed him to get into the box and have a go at goal.

Leeds have conceded goals for fun this season, and they simply don’t know how to stay resolute at the back.

The Whites are an entertaining side to watch, no doubt, but they are very poor at the back. Individual errors have proliferated in recent months, especially at the back, and Leeds are paying the price for it.

The Whites are in a precarious position at the moment, having lost four games in a row. They are winless in their last six games, and the club have decided to part ways with Bielsa.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has shared what he knows of the situation regarding Bielsa.
