Paul Robinson predicts how current Leeds United squad would compete in the Premier League
Paul Robinson believes the Leeds United squad are better equipped for the Premier League this season than when they were relegated last year.
Speaking on the BBC’s The Football News Show on Tuesday (26 March), the pundit said the Whites team “wasn’t good enough” to compete in the top flight during the last campaign.
He claims Daniel Farke’s side are capable of competing in the Premier League with what they already have if they do achieve promotion this season, adding that they may only need to make a couple of additions over the summer at Elland Road.
“I think Leeds are better equipped this season for the Premier League than they were actually last season for the Premier League,” said Robinson. “I’m looking at their squad now, they let players go on loan, they’ve got four or five players on loan now this season currently, who played in the Premier League last year.
“That squad wasn’t good enough to compete in the Premier League. They got relegated for a reason. I’m looking at the players they’ve got now, the likes of Joe Rodon, Ampadu have come into the side, the way that Summerville is playing, Gnonto’s playing, Piroe’s come in, Rutter’s come into his own and, obviously, we talk a lot about Archie Gray and the quality that young man has.
“The way that Leeds play and the quality of their squad, I genuinely believe as they are now if they do go up, they will make a couple of additions. But I think they’ve got a squad that’s capable of competing in the Premier League with what they already have.”
Leeds United squad has plenty of scope for improvement
It’s been pretty clear this season that the Leeds team are getting better the more they play together following their excellent run in the second half of the campaign.
They haven’t lost a single game in this calendar year after recently leapfrogging Leicester City at the top of the Championship table.
The Whites currently have a reasonably young squad and there is plenty of scope for some of those players to get better and continue improving.

Daniel Farke will be eager to see how his squad can compete in the Premier League and they are currently on course to find out next season.
But the top flight is a completely different kettle of fish and a few additions will be needed to just keep things competitive and be able to freshen things up at times.
