We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson believes that Gjanni Alioski has played his last game for Leeds after getting hauled off at half-time against Brighton.
Alioski was the worst player on the pitch and will have infuriated Marcelo Bielsa after gifting Brighton a needless penalty.
Robinson claims that his display against Brighton coupled with the ‘noises’ about joining Galatasaray in the summer means Leeds fans won’t see him play for the club again.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Alioski has been poor for the last few weeks. That’s the last time we’ll see him in a Leeds shirt.
“The noises he’s been making about going to Galatasaray haven’t gone down well with the Leeds fans and he’s been defensively poor all season.
“Teams have been targeting him all season. The game against Brighton, along with Arsenal away, was his poorest game for Leeds.
“The penalty was a stupid mistake, why he felt the need to wrap his arm around Danny Welbeck I don’t know.
“He’s not a left-back, which is why he wears the number 10 on his shirt, he’s a makeshift left-back and he’s been asked to do a job there all season. I think that’s over now.
“It’s an area that Leeds will have to invest in heavily in the summer.”
Alioski will always be remembered as part of the team that got Leeds back in the Premier League but we agree with Robinson now.
It’s time to look to the future and Alioski has no future at the club past the summer.
We think Stuart Dallas should come back into left-back for the game against Tottenham on Saturday.
