Paul Merson takes aim at Javi Gracia in Leeds United relegation prediction on Sky Sports
Paul Merson has taken aim at Javi Gracia live on Sky Sports when quizzed about Leeds United staying in the Premier League this season.
The Sky Sports pundit admitted that he is worrying for the Whites, and if Leicester beat Everton next time out, there is a real problem emerging at Elland Road.
Merson has not been impressed by Gracia, who lacks energy and is very “lackadaisical” in his approach despite the seriousness of the situation in West Yorkshire.
Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday [29 April, 12:30], Merson admitted that he is not feeling great for the Whites ahead of the final games of the season.
“I worry for them, if Leicester go and beat Everton, there’s going to be a problem,” he said.
“I say this is a way, there’s no energy in the manager, everyone is different and I know they are, if I was a Leeds fan, I wouldn’t look at him and say he’s got it, he’s very lackadaisical, I know everyone is different, but I think he’s fortunate.”
Worrying.
Things have been nowhere near good enough recently, and Gracia is to blame.
It is clear that things have needed changing, but he has become too stubborn in his system despite watching his side destroyed more than once against Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
Not only has one of our best players in Wilfried Gnonto been snubbed, but the midfield has been shocking but left untouched when an extra man or a simple change in there is desperately needed.
If Leeds don’t get three points at Bournemouth tomorrow, then it could be a long end to the season ahead with four very tough games on paper.
Manchester City, Newcastle, West Ham and Spurs all have something to fight for, and right now, Leeds don’t seem to have the fight needed, and that is reflected in the energy of Gracia, who is not giving his side something to fight off.
Something needs to change and that has to start tomorrow.
In other Leeds United news, an exit-bound senior player was spotted in tears after what happened recently.
