Paul Merson shares problem Leeds will face amid ‘Incredible’ Bournemouth verdict
Leeds United could secure back-to-back wins this weekend at home to Bournemouth.
It was a great day out for Leeds fans in the Midlands last week, as they watched their side beat bottom-of-the-table Wolves, 3-1.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Leeds in front before fellow summer recruits Anton Stach and Noah Okafor had the game all but done before half-time.
Bournemouth will head to Elland Road where their record is staggering, and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has highlighted one issue Leeds may encounter.

Paul Merson shares what he thinks will be Leeds’ biggest issue
Merson shared his thoughts ahead of the weekend’s fixtures and highlighted the expectations of a home Leeds crowd to play on the front as a potential hindrance to earning all three points.
Merson said, “The problem for Leeds here is that their fans will turn up for this game in the hope that they will take the game to Bournemouth. If Leeds show respect to their opponents and keep things tight at the back, they may have a chance.”
Bournemouth are flying high in the league and find themselves in the top four, with their only loss of the season coming on the opening day at Liverpool.
Merson wasn’t short of praise for the Cherries, and said this about their start to the campaign: “Bournemouth may be a small club but they are incredible. They sold three of their best players last season to Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. And yet, it’s like nothing even changed.”
Bournemouth’s defence was pillaged over the summer window, losing Milos Kerkez, Dean Huijsen and Ilya Zabarnyi but have so far been resolute after the opening day.
Andoni Iraola’s side have conceded just one goal after the trip to Anfield.
Merson believes Daniel Farke should approach cautiously and the Leeds lineup may tell fans a lot about how their side may approach the game.

Calvert-Lewin to cause Bournemouth backline issues
The Leeds front-man hasn’t scored in consecutive games in over a year, last doing so when he scored either side of the September international break in 2024 for Everton
Calvert-Lewin’s bullying performance in Leeds’ win against Wolves shone some light on the attributes he adds to a team away from just scoring goals.
Calvert-Lewin vs Wolves
- 1 shot
- 1 goal
- 1 key pass
- 3 aerial duels won
- 3 free-kicks won
- 4 ground duels won
Leeds will know they are in for a real game against an excellent opponent, who are riding high in the table in the early stages.
But Leeds should have no fear as they look to rack up back-to-back top-flight victories.
