Paul Merson shares one thing he can’t see happening in Chelsea vs Leeds United

Leeds United are set to face off against Chelsea in their next Premier League outing.

Leeds secured a 3-1 victory against Nottingham Forest last time out in a must-win Elland Road battle towards the bottom end of the table.

Next up is a different test altogether for Daniel Farke, with Leeds preparing for a trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Farke was close to the sack last time Leeds met Chelsea, but things are different now with the Whites six points clear of the relegation zone.

That won’t make a clash with Liam Rosenior’s side any easier, with Paul Merson offering his prediction ahead of the Premier League clash.

Paul Merson predicts Leeds vs Chelsea result

Leeds secured a 3-1 win against Chelsea in their last meeting as goals from Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made all the difference.

That came off the back of four consecutive defeats, the last of which came against Manchester City, where the Whites so nearly stole a point.

The win against Enzo Maresca’s men helped kickstart the season at Elland Road, with five wins and six draws in all competitions following that three points.

Despite this, Merson has been left unsure whether Leeds can recreate their heroics when travelling to the capital in mid-week.

In his weekly predictions with Sportskeeda, the former England international revealed that he can’t see the LS11 outfit securing victory at Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I know Leeds have managed to take points off the big boys this season, but I don’t see that happening in this game.

Cole Palmer just scored a hat-trick, and Chelsea are playing at home. Liam Rosenior’s team will be buzzing.

How can Leeds United win vs Chelsea?

Leeds proved in the previous meeting that they have the ability to get one over on the two-time Champions League winners.

The Whites dominated Maresca’s men last time around and were great value for their 3-1 win in the end.

Daniel Farke Leeds United vs Chelsea stats

It has to be said that the Elland Road faithful played a part and certainly helped spur their side on to victory, something Farke won’t have at Stamford Bridge.

The German just needs to get the same level of output out of his side in West London and hope Calvert-Lewin can repeat his heroics if he gets the chance.

Defending won’t be easy, especially after Cole Palmer’s hat-trick against Wolves, but Leeds just have to take the rough with the smooth and see where it lands them.
